EASTER; More than pretty eggs

Easter in many ways has fallen victim to the same fate as Christmas. We tend to see Easter as a holiday, a day to hide eggs and watch the kids search for them, a justification to buy new clothes and dress up to display our worldly finery. Have we lost the meaning of Easter?

Easter season is the most important time in the Christian’s year. Jesus Christ was crucified, buried, and resurrected. Jesus Christ presented Himself to hundreds before His ascension to heaven, confirming the fulfillment of prophecy. If not for Jesus Christ’s fulfillment of the prophecies, Christianity would be just another religion worshipping a dead god, but because Christ did fulfill the prophecies, we can have a personal relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Easter is the time for Christians to reaffirm their faith, to acknowledge the sacrifice God made for His people, recognize the atonement Christ made for us with His blood, and to resurrect and affirm our own faith in God’s word. Jesus Christ’s ministry on the earth was short, but it was filled with faith, words, and deeds, so let our lives replicate that of Jesus Christ.

Easter is not just one of the two times a year we need to attend church, rather Easter is the reason for attending church all year, for trying our best to fulfill the Great Commission, for developing a personal relationship with God, and for us to assure we are washed in the blood of Jesus Christ and that we are following His path to finish His mission.

It is our prayer that you and your family have a wonderful Easter season, and that you carry its truth and meaning in your heart all year.
