As today is Good Friday we will hold church services and prepare for Easter Sunday. This is the most important event in Christianity, the most important time in the Christian calendar. Without the death and resurrection of Jesus, we would not have the living God; we would be like many other religions left with only remains, not a relationship.

Hello : My name is Phil. I'm on medical stress leave from a job that destroyed my life and my faith. Since I've been off work, the Lord has restored my faith. The problem is my doctor will only give me till the end of this month off. Please pray that God will make a way for me so I won't have to go back to that terrible place that broke me. I've been looking for another job, but haven't found one yet. When April 1st arrives, I was planning on resigning from my job and trusting God to provide for my wife and I. Thank you for your continued prayer for my mother-in-law, Sue Terry. She is improving and has been moved to Golden Living Center for physical therapy/rehab and will be there 4 to 8 weeks. Her kidney function has improved to 20% and they got her up sitting in a chair. Sue heard they had Bingo 3 times a week there and can't wait to go. Praise God for such a BIG turn around. PANCAKE BREAKFAST

The Kiwanis Club of Pike County, and the 2010 Leadership Pike Class, will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser the morning of baseball opening day. The breakfast will be held at the Old Middle School a/k/a The Resource Center from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All you can eat pancakes and sausage. Tickets are $5.00, and may be purchased at Parks & Recreation, the Chamber of Commerce, or from any Pike Kiwanis member. The proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the Pike County Baseball Association, to be used to fund scholarships. Additionally, the breakfast will benefit the 2010 Leadership Pike Class project, which is a project designed to start a media program at Pike County High School. The Kiwanis Club of Pike will also benefit from the fundraiser, and will use the money raised to fund their numerous programs, including the Bringing Up Grades program for 3rd grade students at Pike County Elementary. Thank you for supporting these organizations by attending the pancake breakfast.

Amanda (Mandy) Carver Smith, 34 yrs. old, is in Intensive Care at the Coliseum Park Hospital, Macon, in critical condition. She has double pneumonia and is on a ventilator at 100%.

PRAISE REPORT

I want to first Thank you so much for all your prayers. Late Sunday afternoon I got word that Sue Terry is improving, kidney levels are up to 15% and won't have to have dialysis. No need for hospice now. She will be going to a rehab facility this week for 6 to 8 weeks until she regains strength and mobility. Sue was more alert Saturday when I was there than she's been in the last 2 weeks.

Prayer Event for Our Military

Pike County American Legion Post 197 and Prayer Power of Georgia will sponsor a monthly time at the Veteran’s Memorial on the Pike County Courthouse grounds, this time will be to offer thanks and prayers for the men and women serving in our Military. The first Monday of each month at 12:00 pm (noon) starting March 1, 2010, you are invited to gather at the Veteran’s Memorial for a focused time to remember our fallen heroes, honor those who have served, and seek protection for those who are serving. Pike County American Legion Post #197 will provide the military circumstances to recognize and honor our military, while Prayer Power of Georgia will provide the spiritual support.

Please pray for Emmalee Grace. She's a 5 month old just diagnosed with atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) which is a lethal infant cancer. These tumors came up in a matter of days. She lives in Kentucky & is the granddaughter of Bill's 1st cousin. They're currently at Kosair in Kentucky where they've begun 3 types of chemo. There is a disk in my lower back that has slipped completely out. It is on the nerve. I am having trouble urinating and the pain is shooting down my leg. The pain is unbelievable. Abby Betts is a ten year old girl who is experiencing what the doctors believe to be gall bladder problems. Abby has been released from the hospital with a feeding tube and the understanding if her condition doesn't improve in a few days, the doctors will have to remove her gall bladder.
Please pray that Abby's condition improves and she will have no need for the feeding tube or any future procedures.

Please pray for my son. He has been unemployed for 10 months and is NOT drawing unemployment. His father and I are helping him pay his bills, and this is putting a huge financial strain on us. My son is getting VERY discouraged, and quite frankly, so am I. I have tried to claim Mark 11:24 which says "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Pray for the family of Jacob Bullock. He was one of the teens who drowned in Gwinnett over the weekend. Kelly coached Jacob's sister and said she was on of the best girls she had ever coached and is playing college softball now. The father is a minister and both parents are very involved in the lives of their kids. Kelly was on the way over to spend some time with the family when she called Amy and I told her we would pray for Kelly as she ministers to this family. Another guy also drowned so please remember that family, too.

Jennifer and Paul Davidson welcomed their twins into the world quite unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2010. James Brodie, all 2 pounds 7 ounces of him, literally kicked his way out, therefore causing an immediate delivery of himself and little sister, Abigail Grace, who weighed all of 2 pounds 5 ounces. They are 14 inches long. The babies were not expected before mid-March.
Jennifer and Paul are trying to get their arms around this situation . . . and get some rest. The babies are doing as well as can be expected. They are in the Columbus Medical Center NICU receiving excellent care.

Chris Nichelson, a member of Oak Hill, is having surgery on monday January 11, to remove both kidneys. Our church is having a special prayer service on Saturday January 9 at 4:30 to lift up Chris, his family and the doctors.
Also, My daughter Amber went to the doctor this past Tuesday and she has another sinus infection all of this is on the right side, and when the doctor tried to see her ear drum he said that it was more difficult to see. He told me that it would be best to take her back to Emory so this Wednesday January 13 we go back. I thank God that there was an opening this soon. Please pray that this doctor will do the surgery to remove the mass and complete the reconstruction of her ear canal.

NEW YEARS THOUGHT.

We celebrated the birth of Christ and we have brought to a close 2009 and opened a new year and a new decade. We have lost some loved ones, we have found new loved ones, some relationships were weakened and some were renewed or strengthened, but as it is eternally, life goes on. Life is a continuously changing interaction with people and our environment; how we adapt and manage those interactions will determine our acceptance by society. The real question is how much are you willing to sacrifice to be accepted?
In the New Year our prayer is that each one seeks God’s will in all aspects of their life, not man’s approval. Christ left us with a mission, at the point you accepted Christ as your Load and Savior you also accepted to undertake that mission. Each of us may find our path leading us to address the mission in different ways, but the process and ultimate outcome is the same. We are to share Jesus Christ with the world; not to those you meet in church, although many may need it, but to everyone in words and deeds.
Let every Christian stand for Christ daily without shame, boldly reflect Christ’s nature in your actions, and lovingly display Christ’s character in all relationships. Make this your new year’s resolution and your lifelong commitment.
