MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Over the next two weeks or so we will celebrate the birth of Jesus and the start of a new year. We pray that all enjoy the time with family and friends, while we remember the life and character of Jesus and how he left us a mission to complete. Reach out to all those in need of spiritual help as well as those less fortunate than ourselves in all other areas. Develop or deepen your relationship with God while uniting the faithful in seeking God’s will and being obedient in following it.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

A PRAYER

Lord God I am thankful for your awesome grace and mercy. You love us when we do not deserve it, you protect us when we are walking in darkness, and you save us when we don’t even know we are lost. A sin weighs us down, but blessings are like clouds floating on the air. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let each of us look at the event as the beginning of our lives also, for with out Jesus our lives, now and for eternity, would be unrecognizable. May we emblazon the truth and meaning of Christmas on our hearts and share it all year.

A THOUGHT TO CONSIDER

What upsets God more, the fact that retailers do not allow their employees to say Merry Christmas, or the fact that Christians don’t display the Christmas spirit all year? If we spent our time focusing on what God wants us to do and be, and less time on what others are doing, just maybe we could truly make a difference. Our pray is that as a country and as individuals we focus on our relationship with God and keep His commandments so that others will see God in what we do.

Thank you all for this wonderful site and allowing people like to me to post prayer requests. God bless you all, and Merry CHRIST-mas to each of you and your familys.

PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray for my 17 year old daughter on October 15 we found out that she has a mass in her right ear. We were sent to Emory and have since had an MRI. The doctor that we saw told us that the mass has eaten the bone that is at the bottom of her ear, and that it is pressing on her juggular vein. He said that the surgery would be very complex and that since it was not causing too much pain he did not want to do surgery. I am not comfortable with that I found another doctor that i know has done this type of surgery before so on December 15 we will be going to Dr. Jerels in Macon. Please pray that he will do this surgery so that Amber will not have pain in her ear anymore."

Thanksgiving Prayer

Lord God, all thanksgiving must begin with you. You have given us blessings beyond anything we could imagine or obtain ourselves. Your love even thou we continue to turn away, your mercy and grace even thou we are disobedient, are undeserved and in many ways unappreciated, but yet you never turn your back on us. Thank you for your son that was the greatest act of love toward mankind; let us except and live the meaning of your act. Father we are thankful for our families and friends that we can share this time with, but let us be bold in our representation of you while we go through the next few weeks. Let us set aside worldly desires for the glory of your kingdom. Forgive the actions and conditions of our lives and breath a fresh life into our the hearts and minds so we may revive your will in all that is done in our world. We remember our military that will not be with their loved ones this Thanksgiving, and we ask that you protect them, keep them safe, and bring them home quickly. Pour out your love on the entire world so we may learn to live in peace here on earth as we seek your divine deliverance. AMEN

PRAYER REQUEST AND UPDATE

If you could, please put Tommy Berg Jr. on your prayer list. His daddy, Tommy, Sr., is a salesman here in my office. This is their first baby and, as you will read, he has been diagnosed, pre-birth, with Dandy Walker syndrome which causes all kinds of other issues. Thanks, Debbie Willis

I wanted to write you all and let you know how Tommy Jr. is doing and to say thank you for all of your prayers. Friday we had 2 appointments the first appointment was with our high risk Dr. who checks on how Tommy is growing and keeps an eye on the Dandy Walker. We did the ultra sound and got some really good pictures of him. the Dr. had to run to the hospital so he couldn't talk to us after the ultra sound so they told us if he finds anything he will call us. Off to the next appointment this appointment was with the cardiologist if you remember from one of the emails I sent before we thought Tommy might have a hole in his heart. So the Dr. went through all of Tommy's chambers and gave the heart a really good look and there was no holes and he said he has a great heart. Man Holli and I are so happy finally some good news I was on top of the world. The day went on and Holli and I are both so happy our baby weighs 3.5 lbs and has a healthy heart. Well that didn't last long, just before the end of the day on Friday we get a call from the first Dr. he said that Tommy's head is growing to fast it is 3 weeks ahead of his body, and what this means is the fluid is building up and hydro seffiless is in the near future. Tommy's original due date is Feb. 4th but now it looks like we are going to have to get him out around Jan. 1 a little more than a month early. Most likely they are going to have to do another amnio on Holli to make sure Tommy's lungs are mature enough and that he will be able to breath when they get him out. After birth the plan is most likely going to be Tommy and I getting on a ambulance and heading for Atlanta to get the shunt put in his brain to release the pressure. Our recovery time is looking to be about a month in the hospital if everything goes right, so I will be commuting from the hospital. Sorry for such a grim email on such a wonderful week but I just wanted to let each of you know what's going on. Thank you all for all of your support I couldn't have better co-workers or friends to help us through. Please continue to pray for Tommy Jr. and Holli to keep them safe and healthy through all of this. Thanks again for everything.Tommy Berg, Sr.

THE PATH WE FOLLOW.

Matthew 7 :13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. KJV

Has God hidden the path we are to follow to the gate that leads us to eternal life? Is it so difficult to find the way to the gate that most people can not find it? Is the gate so restricting that most people can not fit through the gate? Is God dangling a carrot in front of us that He knows we will never reach?

No to all! God has not made the way to eternal life hard to find, nor has He made it difficult to pass from darkness through the gate into the light. God knows human nature and knows how we behave. God is not enticing us to do something that is impossible, but it is difficult for people to know and understand what God wants from us. Many people will be following the path they believe to be a righteous way to salvation and eternal life, only to find that the manmade road signs along the way have mislead them. God has given us very explicit instructions, He has told us where the path is that leads to the gate, He has given us the means by which to light the path, He has given us the key to the gate, and He has given us the means to handle the bumps and detours we experience along the way. What God has given us is the Bible. Read, study, and commit yourself to following God’s word and you will be on the right path and will easily enter the gate leading to eternal life.

PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray for my nephew Juan A (26 yrs), unsaved, who committed a brutal murder (hate crime), three weapons charges, and he may be also accused of another murder. Juan A is facing life in prison or death penalty (State and Federal cases). He has been involved with drugs, gangs, suicide attempts, rape in prison and is afraid of prison. During his arrest, he stated that “he may not be here soon” (possible suicide). Pray for his salvation, conviction of sins, freedom from anger/resentment, hunger of God's love, mercy, joyful spirit, hunger for God's word, knowledge, protection, joy, peace, strength, and God's will in his life. Intercede for Juan A deliverance from criminal thoughts and bondages, alcohol, suicidal thoughts, evil thoughts and emotions, sexual sins, lack of love, mercy, etc. Intercede and pray for his children and all those in his family, most of which are unsaved. Pray that God uses this for his own glory and shows his love, kindness, and mercy!
Thanks for your prayers and God bless you always!!!

SURRENDER YOUR WILL TO HIS WILL.

Matthew 18: 19 & 20:
Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.

I have heard many people quote this verse ensuring others or themselves that we can ask for anything and God will grant what ever it is. Unfortunately that is not true, and this is why many people have what they think is unanswered prayers. God put a condition on prayer, it must be done in His name and it will be granted in His will. The in His will part is what most people over look. Jesus gave us the Lord’s Prayer as our model by which to pray. We can not gang up on God and make Him change His mind; He knew what was going to happen at the being of time. Miracles are those things we can not explain, but to God, miracles are things He already had planned because He knew what we wanted and needed. Miracles are because we are obedient and faithful to God and surrender our will to His will. Don’t think that no matter what, God will do what you want when you want it, remember God will always do the right thing at the right time for His kingdom.

PRAISE GOD!

Praise God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is aware of every facet of our lives. Nothing happens without His knowledge. Not even a sparrow falls to the ground that He doesn't know about it (Matt. 10:29)
I just want to Praise Him and thank you all for your thoughts and prayers raised up for Amanda & baby. There on the ultrasound they saw a strong heartbeat of that precious little life, only 7 weeks and 4 days old. The Dr. put Amanda on pelvic rest (no lifting, standing for long periods or walking a lot) for a least 3 or 4 days. They said it is common for bleeding and cramping to happen, not miscarry and not ever find out the cause. They will get the results of blood soon and that may shed some light on a cause.
Thanks again and may God richly bless you for your prayers.
Love in Christ,
Cathy Terry

Prayer request

Please pray earnestly for a job for my oldest son. He has been unemployed since March and is getting very discouraged. Please help me pray and claim God's promise in John 15: 7 which reads: "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you."
Thank you,
Ruth Davis

Prayer request

Please pray again for Amanda and baby, she started cramping and bleeding last night. The Dr said she wants them to come in first thing this morning. Pray for God's will, healing and protection for them. Please don't call, I'll update you all later. They don't want everyone knowing, but prayer is powerful and we should always go to God first with all our needs.
Thank you!!
Love in Christ,
Cathy Terry

PRAYER FOR HEALING

Dear Friends and family:
At what age does someone stop praying for the healing of another? I don’t think I’ve ever heard the answer. We are told to love one another, and I think that the act of loving another is more of a healing salve than can be prescribed by any physician.
I have been close to a number of friends and family who have passed on. I did see and understand something that was decidedly different about them. Some were fearful, afraid to shut their eyes in the waning time they had left, for fear of what tragedy might be set them. Some were friends who placed no faith in God or salvation. One man I worked with years ago told me, while he was healthy and not in any fear of his life, that if there was a God ok, but he owed him nothing and lived just fine without him. He died suddenly on the operating table while undergoing exploratory surgery. I so remember his funeral. It was short and abrupt. There was no peace or happiness in that place that day. Neither he nor his family sought God.
Another friend, remarkably at the same company, suffered with cancer for about a year and a half. His name was Bob. Bob was a humble man and what set him apart was his tremendous faith in God. We talked for hours about the cancer, but mostly we talked about God and what Jesus Christ meant to him and to his family. Bob was a born again believer. He came in to work daily, although the pain must have been excruciating. When finally he passed on, is was a quiet and peaceful time. His funeral was one of hope and love as we all knew that Bob had gone to be with the Lord, and we would see him again one day.
A Pastor commented once that when a baby is being born, going through all the pressures of contractions, it most likely would think that it was dying. After all, the baby never knew anything else besides its mother’s womb. But then there is a bright and shining light as the doctor helps deliver the baby in to the world. Born to a new experience, alive and full of hope. Is that what dying is like? Are we born in to a new life, as promised by God’s Word? If so, then why should we worry?
There is a time when each of us will face that time in our lives when either ourselves or someone close will pass on over. If we have experienced that joyful time of accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior it will be a time of rejoicing. There came a time in my own life when my father was extremely ill. His time left with us were measured by hours and then by minutes. I sought wisdom on how to pray. A peace came over me as the answer made itself known. I know today that my parents are both enjoying heavenly places and that someday I too shall see them again.
Please be in prayer for our friends and relatives as we all face uncertain times. Christ is our victor and in Him our faith is well placed. Please remember my cousin Claire Larson and her husband Roger.
In Christ,
David Hedlum

A THOUGHT

Philippians 2:3. Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.
4. Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing. NLT

Paul is giving us the foundation of a humble mind. As we go through life we have two ways to present ourselves to the world; one, we can be constantly lifting ourselves up for recognition and fame, two, we can lift up those around us even for the simplest things. The best way I have found to bring my mind into a humble state is to pray for those I see daily going about God’s work without fanfare. Looking for and recognizing God’s children will give you reflection on your own actions. We have become a society of self involved individualist who seek worldly things, but we never seem to understand that the only things you can have in this world and take with us to the next is character, honesty, integrity, and love of God and each other. It is hard as human beings to put others ahead of ourselves, but it is the most rewarding thing you can do.

Prayer request

Many people are suffering with financial situations that threaten to destroy their marriages, their lives, and possibly their future. We lift up each and every person and family in economic turmoil and ask God to guide them through their struggle. Some times God puts us in the middle of a battle to strengthen us, some times to teach us, always to bless us in some way. Heavenly Father, give all those in need of financial and marital stability your love, mercy, and grace so they may recover stronger and more faithful than before.

Emily Kaye Colwell, 4 years old, is in Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta. Emily suffered an infection in her brain, brought on by strep throat, which has affected her motor skills. She is showing signs of improvement, but she will be under going physical therapy to re-learn to walk and other motor skills.
Please pray for this child that she over comes this condition and that she regains normal function and life. Also, remember her family as they support her during this time.

UPDATE - PRAISE

Update:
Thank you all for your prayers, the ultrasound found the tiny little life in the uterus with heart beating and could not find the lump the Dr had felt a few days earlier. Praise God!!!! Amanda is 6 weeks 5day into this pregnancy and is experiencing strong morning sickness that lasts all day long. With the last 3 pregnancies this period lasted 3 months. The only thing different is she has not vomited at all. We hope she will be able to gain some extra this way. At 5'7" and 98lbs, she and baby could use it. Thank you again for your prayers today and your continued prayers as this little life grows.
In Christ's Love,
Cathy Terry

Prayer request

I would really appreciate your prayers this morning, Amanda and Ryan are expecting again. She is about 6 weeks, during the exam Tuesday11/10, the Dr. found a lump near her left ovary and said it could be many different things. Dr. didn't seem overly concerned and would do an ultrasound in the 1st week of Dec. Yesterday Amanda realized she didn't think to tell them she has some nerve damage on the left side and can't feel pain, just pressure. She called the Dr.s office and they want to do the ultrasound this morning first thing. It could be a tubal pregnancy.
Please Pray for God's healing power and will to be done.
Thank you and Love you in Christ,
Cathy Terry

A VETERANS DAY PRAYER

Merciful And loving God, descend on this celebration today that we may experience your perfect guidance and direction for our lives as we petition your protection for your children engaged in conflict. Give us pause as we honor those men and women who have gone before us and those who are currently protecting our nation. Let us remember those who gave up their tomorrows so that we may have today. Help us to place the highest value on our freedoms and that we shall maintain and defend our freedoms here at home. Blessed God, we lift up all we do here today as a tribute to our veterans and as glory to your kingdom.
Heavenly Father, we gather today to honor and glorify your kingdom and thank you for the blessings you have generously and abundantly bestowed on our country. We present ourselves to ask for your continued protection for our daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, husbands, and friends that are currently in uniform and especially those in harm’s way. Lord God, receive into your presence those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, and we ask that you comfort and sustain their families.
Father let us be as Job, let us not lose sight of the glory and power of your kingdom and no matter how bleak or disheartening the situation may be let us remember that you Lord God are in control and have us in your will. Embolden us to keep the faith in your promises and in our strength through you in prayer to protect our military.
Father God, endow our leaders with divine wisdom to guide and direct our country and our service people so they might remain in your will and endeavor to serve your kingdom while protecting your people and following your Great Commission.
Heavenly Father, you will be victorious, so shepherd us dear God so we will reflect your image even as we are engaged in conflict. Let us remember that all we do is to be done in your greatest commandment, to love one another.
Father, give our military and all veterans peace, protection, comfort, and the honor they are due for their unselfish service.
As it is in Your word,
Psalms 144: 1-2 Bless the Lord, who is my rock. He gives me strength for war and skill for battle. 2 He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my deliverer. He stands before me as a shield, and I take refuge in him. He subdues the nations under me.
As King David knew that God gave him strength and skills for battle, we claim the same for our military.
Dear Lord as we leave here today emblazon on our hearts with the veterans so we will daily remember them in prayer, and exalt their deeds.
All these things we pray in the name of Your son, the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. AMEN.

Prayer request

Please pray for my step-mother Betty. She went to Griffin Hospital on Saturday because of breathing problems and swelling of her legs and feet. Late yesterday evening the doctors let us know that she has fluid around her heart and lungs. The doctors are going to try and get her into surgery today. Please just keep her in your prayer.

A THOUGHT

Proverbs 19:23 KJV
The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

We are not guaranteed happiness, wealth, or fame in this life, we are only promised satisfaction. Our needs will be satisfied if we look to God and keep in His will and reflect His image. If we keep His commandments and focus on Him we have no fear of evil entering our lives. No, not at all easy, but God expects diligent and faithful obedience not perfection.

A NEW SCHOOL PRAYER

Jesus said,
'If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father.'

NEW School prayer: Written by a 15 yr. old School Kid in Ohio:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics.. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!'

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program.

Prayer request

Please continue to pray for my step-mother, Betty Crosby McGee. She was in the hospital about a week ago with swelling in her legs and feet. She is extremely weak, from the chemo treatments, and also from not wanting to eat, because of the nausea. She is having difficulty breathing today. Please lift her up to our Lord that he will heal her.
Thank you,
Judy Collins

PRAISE

God is at work!

Yesterday the call for prayer went out for Natalia Harmsen as she was on her way to the hospital with several complications with her pregnancy. By 2:00 in the afternoon the doctors could not find any problems. Although Natalia was kept overnight just to be safe, both baby and mother are doing well and the baby should be here some time around the first of the year.

Thank you for your prayers, they truly made a difference.

Prayer Request

Please be in prayer for Natalia Harmsen. She is seven months pregnant and has been taken to the hospital this morning with several complications. Thank you.

Prayer request

Father God we are stunned by the events at Ft. Hood and seek to put these types of things in prospective in our lives. The loss of life in what seems to us a senseless act is completely beyond our ability to understand. In times like this we can only turn to you God for comfort and peace for all those involved. We pray for healing in the families that have lost loved ones and for those that were injured. Pour your mercy and love down on Ft. Hood and all affected by this tragedy.

“if my people,...

II Chronicles 7:14 NIV
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

On Tuesday two states voted on the status of marriage in their state. In both states the traditional definition of marriage was upheld and confirmed as the chose of the people. Healing can begin in small ways, it often goes unnoticed, but let us not disregard the importance of what we can do to effect a change. We must take ourselves out of the picture and put God in His rightful place in our lives. We must accept God as our Lord in all things and earnestly seek His will for not only our lives, but that of our country. We must confess, repent, and pray for forgiveness with an open heart truly seeking God’s healing, no matter what that brings.
Turn your back on sin, seek God’s will, and put God in charge, then will we see revival and healing in our great nation.

A time of Prayer

On Sunday evening we attended a “CALL TO PRAYER” at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Griffin. The program was one of the best we have seen done by a church. The time contained a defined method and purpose for prayer as well as the reading of scriptures, and enter mixed was corporate prayer and moments of silent prayer. Proceeding the prayer time, twenty two men took fifteen minute intervals to read scripture and to pray for the program, the people who would attend, and for the church. The majority of the church was in attendance, along with God.

HONOR OUR VETERANS

On November 11 our nation honors our veterans. Please take time to pray for all our military personnel and especially those who are in harm’s way. Most communities have at least one program to recognize the veterans and thank them for their sacrifices; please attend one and show your support for the men and women in uniform. Please remember all veterans and service people in prayer always. If you know some one in service you may list their names at http://www.prayerpower4u.net/ and they will receive prayer.

Prayer request

Please pray for my sister-in-law. She has been in and out of the hospital for the past two weeks. The doctors seem to be focusing on her pancreas. They ran C.T. scans today and did lots of blood work after re admitting her to the hospital. She is in lots of pain. Lift her up that they will pin point what the problem is and cure it. Thank you. Blessings. Kandace

Prayer request

Prayer warriors, please continue to pray for Betty White, my mother-in-law. Her heart stress test results were OK, but the doctor wants to do a heart catherization since the nitroglycerin tablets relieve the pain from her shoulders down her arms and her pain medication does not. He is checking for blockage. She will have this done Tuesday morning, scheduled at 7:00 a.m. as outpatient at Spalding Regional Hospital. Pray for God’s wisdom for the doctor and nurses, comfort and peace for “my mom,” and healing if it be God’s will.
Thank you for your intercessions.
Love, In Christ, Vanora

A THOUGHT

Don’t trust man to tell what God wants you to know!

PRAISE

Praise the Lord !

Karen O'Chipa, daughter of Bill Frank, got a good report today. The doctor said that the lump on her neck is an indicator of the type of cancer that is still in her body. (This cancer first appeared 10 years ago). They will monitor the lump for 6 weeks and then re-evaluate. However, it is NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT RIGHT NOW !! The doctor said Karen had a greater chance of dying in a car accident than from the cancer at this time !

Continue to lift Karen up in your prayers that the lump will be GONE in 6 weeks !!!!

GOD IS GOOD !!!
Ruth B. Davis

A THOUGHT

If someone has been accepted by God as they are, than who are we not to.

Monday, October 26, 2009

Prayer request

Please be in prayer for Karen O'Chipa. (see email below) She is the daughter of Bill Frank in Zebulon. God healed her 10 years ago, and HE CAN DO IT AGAIN !!!
Ruth B. Davis

Please add Bill's daughter, Karen to the prayer list.
She called tonight and said that she had a place come up on her neck that she thought was just a cyst. After having a biopsy done on it, it came back as "suspicious for metastatic lobular carcinoma" which is the same kind she was diagnosed with 10 years ago.
We are trying to get it set up so that she can return to Houston and start out under the care of Dr. Rivera, who treated her for the cancer before at MD Anderson Hospital. He is now with the Methodist Hospital Research Institute.
We are in Hot Springs, Arkansas now and will probably be working our way to Houston to meet her. She has an appointment next Tuesday morning with Dr. Rivera.
I'll let you know more after she see's the doctor.

Remember, Larry was in a helicopter crash in Jackson, MS.
Chuck

Prayer request

Brenda Andress of Enterprise, AL - The doctors suspect the possibility of uterine cancer, but she'll know definitely on Monday, the 26th. So many times we don't have a chance to pray in advance, but this is our chance to fan the flames of prayer that bring back renewal, restoration and healing.
David

Prayer request

Danny Duncon is in need of prayer. He is having sever back pain. The only relief he seems to get is when he lies on his back and does not move around. Please pray for relief and comfort for Danny.
Thanks,
Dan McGee

Update - continued prayer needed.

Chad is in a lot of pain. He had a restless night. They pumped him with morphine to ease the pain. Sherry stayed with him at Grady in the burn unit. Doctors spoke with Sherry and told her they want him to get home as soon as possible. Home is better than a hospital. Things could have been much worse. Chad was wanting to go on a helicopter ride for his birthday next month, but this sure wasn't the way we wanted to do it. Grady is the best burn unit in the SE. If he had not gone there they would have had to fly him to Augusta. So we are thankful to be at Grady of all places.
Continue to pray.
Ken Koon

Prayer request

Chad Koon is in the burn unit at Grady on morphine for pain. Be sure to hug your children tomorrow. It will be awhile before I can hug my son again. He is very fortunate. Minor 2nd degree burns on face. But both arms have much worse from fingers all the way to shoulders. We will know more tomorrow. Sherry is staying with Chad at Grady. Continue to pray!

The Great Commission is so much more.

Matthew 28 KJV
18. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20. teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The subject verse we recognize as the Great Commission. In our quest for revival many use this as the evangelistic and salvation verse, but it is literally much more. This verse not only sends us out to spread the seeds of salvation, but it also directs us “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you”.
So our commission is not just to evangelize and spread the gospel, but to bring the whole magnitude of God’s greatness and glory to the entire world. Our commission is to “go” and spread God’s commandments, ordinances, and His precepts. This is not a suggestion for us to follow if, when, and how we want, this is an edict by Christ himself, set down that we finish the work He left behind. He did not leave His work undone by accident or because He ran out of time, no, He left it for us to follow in His way so we can strive to develop ourselves into His perfect image. Knowing we will never gain the perfection of Christ we must accept our commission as a life long duty and commitment.
If you embrace all of the Great Commission as Christ delivered it, it will change your life and God will be “with you, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Prayer request

Please be in prayer for my aunt, Verla Pickell. She is 89 years old and has Parkinsons disease, macular degeneration, high & low blood pressure bouts, and irregular heartbeat. In addition, she recently fractured her right foot, became dehydrated and was in the hospital for a week. During that time, the hospital made a mistake in some of her prescription medicines and gave her too many stool softeners, all of which set her back tremendously. In addition to all these problems, lying in bed for a week, unable to walk, made her very weak and helpless. Persons with Parkinsons have to maintain mobility or their joints will become rigid. Her mind has been very clear up until all of this happened, so now she is confused also.
Please be in prayer for her. I can see some improvement since she is back at the assisted living facility and receiving physical therapy, but she is getting discouraged.
Ruth B. Davis

Prayer request

Please lift Lugene Stansell up in prayer. Now in her golden years, Mrs. Stansell has fallen and broken her tail bone, making it very difficult for her to perform even the simplest of activities. Pray for healing, comfort, and continuing support from her care givers.

Prayer request

This is pastor appreciation week and we really need to pray for our pastors and leaders of our churches and let them know we are praying for them. Pastors have a very heavy weight on them from all directions 24/7. Please pray that they would have a Christ-like heart as well as their church-members.

Please also pray that when these prayer requests come across our desk-top that we really pray for them! David I just prayed for you oh how I feel as you do so much of the time!
Sister in Christ
Pike County, GA

Prayer request

I sit alone in my room quietly listening to Christian music play softy from my computer system speakers. Nearer My God plays softly and my soul climbs quietly into the awaiting arms of Christ my Savior. I find a comfort there, a place to rest from the world and its demands for activity and action. My body is sore, my spirit low. Yet outside, the sun shines brightly casting its beams of light across the landscape and lighting off plums of color in each bush, tree and flower it touches. Even with such beauty surround me, yet I still feel empty, exhausted and spent.
I know you are there Lord, but at this particular moment I feel so alone and helpless. The music plays on and I hear the great old song, “How Great Thou Art” and I know in my heart that you are there. Would you please be more direct for me this morning? My life is such a little thing when I think of all the people you have created and the universe at large. Why give me a second thought? Yet I know you do, as I remember the closeness of times long past. When I was out of work in Oklahoma, you were there giving me comfort and hope. You allowed me to share our experiences and witness with other families, bring them hope and peace.
In Brazil you were with me each time and so close. I watched you perform miracles and was a part of some of those miracles. I watched and listened and heard you words, felt your presence and knew you were there with me in the company of real brothers and sisters in Christ. I felt like shouting and singing praises to you.
Lord, you are my family, my father and Christ my brother as well as the Holy Spirit who enlightens my way, but today Lord I feel so empty. Won’t you please hear my cry?
David

IS YOUR FAITH LIKE AN ICEBERG?

An Iceberg spends its entire existence flooding around aimlessly in the ocean with only about ten percent of its mass showing above the surface. We all have heard disastrous tales of icebergs sinking ships that got too close causing hundreds of lives to parish.

Icebergs do not live a long and productive life, quit the opposite. Icebergs break away from the formation that gave them existence and begin moving independently on a random journey. After a time the iceberg floats in a southerly direction with no identifiable destination. As the water warms, the Iceberg begins to loss its mass and even what is visible above the surface becomes smaller and smaller until it is no longer something that is significant. Now ignored and shrinking the Iceberg continues on its journey forgotten and irrelevant.

One day the iceberg will disappear and its mass will have mingled with all the rest of the water in the ocean so we can not distinguish any difference.

Are you allowing your faith to dwindle and shrink until it is no longer identifiable? Will you just mirage into the massive ocean of people that are just there without a purpose or direction?

Show people more than ten percent of who you are and your faith. The ninety percent below the surface is the most important, yes it is the scariest, but if we bring it to the surface and share it with those traveling past it will not only grow but help others afloat on the ocean of life. If we connect with all those other icebergs afloat, just maybe we can establish an island for others to connect with, also.

Don’t let your faith be an iceberg, merging into the world and becoming irrelevant.

PASS THIS ON. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MAY BE IN NEED
The first sentence is pretty powerful!
God determines who walks into your life.....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.'
Father, God, bless all my friends in whatever it is that you know they may need this day! And may their lives be full of your peace, prosperity and power as they seek to have a closer relationship with you. Amen.

Prayer request

Prayer is needed for the "CHURCH". We are suffering daily setbacks to our freedoms and rights as Christians. Throughout the world, and what seems especially threatening here at home, Christianity is losing its purpose and direction. Please pray that we revive the Great Commission and restore our country to God's will.

Shannon Pope saw the cardiologist Tuesday. The doctor does not think there is anything seriously wrong, but has scheduled a stress test and ultrasound for next week. The doctors best guess at this time is something external is causing the problem, i.e.; caffeine, stress, etc.

PRESS RELEASE - PRAYER GUARDIAN MINISTRY

Prayer Power of Georgia is pleased to announce that it is sponsoring a new ministry. PRAYER GUARDIAN MINISTRY will assist those who feel led to pray for our political, spiritual, and social leaders. Members of the Prayer Guardian Ministry will be known as Prayer Guardians. Prayer Guardians will take responsibility to pray for a selected individual or individuals. Those who are selected for intercessory prayer will be known as Wards. Prayer Guardians may be an individual, a group, a church, or an organization. The purpose is of the Prayer Guardian Ministry is to promote and encourage regular and continuous intercessory prayer for those in positions of leadership or influence in our local communities, our county, our state, and our country.
Each Prayer Guardian will select a Ward who will receive intercessory prayer for wisdom and discernment in order that Wards may fulfill their responsibilities and comment to our community, county, state, and country. Many people pray for our leaders already, but it may not be on a regular basis, and the person is probably not informed that someone cares enough to remember them in prayer.
The purpose of the Prayer Guardian Ministry is to be faithful in our biblically-directed duty of lifting up all those in need of prayer. (1 Timothy 2: 1-2) We see a person’s position in our community as one which is not only of worldly leadership but also of spiritual leadership. With this in mind, a Prayer Guardian will commit to pray for the Ward on a regular basis and contact them once a month as a reminder that they are part of The Prayer Guardian Ministry. The Ward has no obligation to respond or to participate, but they will be blanketed in prayer regardless.
We know prayer will be a great resource for everyone and will allow our community to benefit from the spiritual guidance the Wards will receive. Prayer Guardian Ministry will arrange the initial contact and make available resources to facilitate the monthly contacts. There will be a minimum donation of eleven dollars ($11) requested to cover the cost of mailing and materials.
The Prayer Guardian Ministry has no political agenda and will not make judgments about issues or people. The sole purpose is to be obedient and offer intercessory prayer for everyone in need.
Anyone interested in becoming a Prayer Guardian may contact Prayer Guardian Ministry for more information at http://www.prayerpower4u.net/ or by email at prayerguardian@bellsouth.net or by mail at PO Box 1263, Zebulon, GA 30295.

A VERSE FOR TODAY.

James 5: 13 Are any among you suffering? They should keep on praying about it. And those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord. 14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.

A THOUGHT ABOUT ISLAMIC PRAYER.

In the last few days much has been made of the fact that Islamics will be praying on the Capital steps. We pray on the Capital steps and if we are to claim free speech and religious freedom in this country then we need to allow other expressions of faith. What is disturbing is the anti-Jew anti-Christian talk from the Islamic leaders. It seems these leaders want to force their religion on us by what ever means they can. We as American Judeo-Christians must step up and meet this attempt to subvert our country. We must follow the biblical directions given to us and confront this and all attempts to force change based solely on religious beliefs. We must be tolerant, we must be loving, but we must be as committed to protecting and preserving our religion and our country as the Islamics are to subjugate us. So pray that God keeps this country in His will and under His protection. Act whenever possible to counter the Islamic aggressiveness by displaying God’s love.

A THOUGHT.

Lift the veil from your face and display the glory of God. We have too long hide in our faith, it is time to unveil and start doing the work Christ has given us to finish here before he returns. The Spirit is in us but needs to be projected outwardly for all to see and accept. When you accept Christ you also accept the fact that you become His tool. He works in us, with us, and through us to accomplish His plan.

My Grandfather, George Mortensen, has stage 3b colon cancer. That means the cancer has gone through the colon wall and has spread at least to the lymph nodes--though there was no evidence that it has attacked other organs at this time. He underwent surgery not too long ago and is healing from surgery before beginning chemotherapy. Pray that God will continue to provide strength and courage to my Grandfather and those who are taking care of him.
Thanks.

A PRAYER

Father God we are eight years from the brutal attack of 9/11 but have not healed as a nation. My prayer today is for our country that we may come together as a people, to resolve to protect and maintain our way of life and our faith in the one living God. May all of those who lost their lives on 9/11 be joyfully united with you, and those left behind find comfort and peace in knowing their loved ones are with you. We are thankful for all the first responders who have and continue to sacrifice for our safety. We ask protection for all of our military and service people as they give the utmost for us. May each of us rest peacefully tonight and every night knowing that you Dear Lord have us in your kingdom under your protection, mercy, and grace.

Prayer request

Please keep Lyla Carroll in your prayers. Lyla is 5 years old and needs surgery on her spine at least once a year due to a birth defect. Her surgery has been postponed until next Tuesday 9/8. She is doing fine right now but her blood count is low due to a recent cold or flu. The doctors have decided it would be best to put the surgery off until her blood count returns to normal. The family is already in Texas and will remain there until after the surgery. Please keep the family in your prayers as well – for their physical and financial well being as this is an unexpected expense and stay.

Prayer request

PLEASE READ TO THE END. . .VERY IMPORTANT IN NEED OF PRAYER.
Hi to all my friends and family, I felt compelled to spread this story about son's best friend, Sam who is 8. He is in MAJOR need of Prayer. The following story is what his mother Cindy (we are in MOPS together) wrote today.
Background Story
Our son Sam is a wonderful young man who is 8 years old. He will be 9 in January. He is going into the 3rd grade in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Sam had been having some pain in his right knee most of this summer (2009). As the pain increased we realized that something might be wrong and we made an appointment for him to see an Orthopedist on 8/10/09. At this doctors appointment an X-ray was done of Sam's leg/knee and it showed that there was a mass that the doctor believed to be cancerous. Samuel went into the hospital just a few days later for a series of tests. He received a cat scan, MRI, and also a full body scan. Our family met with the pediatric oncologist the following day and Samuel was diagnosed with a type of cancer called Osteosarcoma (stage 4). The cancer is in his right knee and it has also spread to both of his lungs. This is an aggressive type of cancer and it will be treated with aggressive forms of chemo. We are asking everyone to please lift up our little boy Samuel Gordon Bish in prayer. We pray for healing!! We serve a mighty God and we know that HE can heal Sam if that is his will for Sam's life. Please be prayer warriors along with our family as Sam starts this very difficult journey in his young life. Today's date is August 16th, 2009 and all this has happened in 6 days. His first appointment was on Monday the 10th and by Friday the 14th he was in the hospital getting his Chemo-port put in his chest and a biopsy done. PLEASE KEEP THIS GOING TO YOUR CONTACTS IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK! SAM CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH PRAYERS.WE PRAY FOR HEALING AND PEACE FOR HIS FAMILY. . .There are also 2 younger sisters.
Thank you for all your prayers and support.

Praise - continued prayer needed!

As a note, Jerry Dunson's prognosis a few days ago was very grave , but he was prayed for by our Prayer Warriors, as well as hundreds of others that received the prayer request. As this update shows, God answers prayers. Thank all of the Prayer Warriors for your faithfulness and obedience.

Prayer Warriors,
Jerry Dunson had another doctors visit today. There are two items of great news for which we are very thankful: (1) The very recently "confirmed" testicular cancer diagnosis is now said to have been incorrect. Whew! What the doctors had thought was testicular cancer -- along with that supposed tumor in his pelvic area -- is further backing up of blood clots behind that arterial filter, mentioned below. (2) His kidneys are not @ 40% function, but @ 60%. That's a 50% improvement over the last report!
Although diabetes is still a factor, those two changes have the effect of reducing Jerry's perceived risk in resolving that massive blood clotting. So! He is to get a second vascular surgeon's opinion soon.
Jerry was in an upbeat mood today. And he told me that he had just invited two more people to our Bible conferences. (Jerry is not saved, but God is working on him in mysterious ways, so pray that Jerry will accept God's offering of salvation.)
It appears to me that our Lord is doing exactly what our Lord does so well!
A friend,
Bud Dunson
PS: Many thanks to all of you and to all those of your Prayer Partners team who include Jerry in your praying.

A shocking commentary!

As reported August 26, 2009 in the Pike County Journal-Reporter, 78.9% of all death row prisoners in Georgia claim to be Christians. This is a shocking commentary on the Christian religion and how we raise our children in the faith. It would be interesting to know if the prisoners accepted Christ before or after they were sentenced to death row. Regardless of their position in life, each of these individuals is a child of God and is deserving of our prayers.

Heavenly Father show mercy and grace to each of those that society has judged and appointed to suffer the ultimate penalty. We know that in Your great wisdom You will determine their eternal fate when they are presented at the Great White Throne.

Prayer request

Please pray for John's Aunt Mildred Carroll. She went for a PET scan on Monday and on her lungs there was 2 nodules on one lung and 1 mass on the other lung. The one with the mass was large & He said active.

The options they have are: 1) leave it alone, 2) a biopsy, 3) operate & take out the bottom lobe of her lung.

The biopsy is set up for this Thursday (8/27/09), they will call us & tell us what time.

He said he would make a small incision & cut out a wedge & send to lab while she is asleep & if it comes back cancer they will open her up & it will be a long surgery . She could die, have a heart attack or a stroke , she is 72 years old & very tough.

Aunt Mildred has always been the care giver in the family. If any of her brothers or sisters have been sick, hospitalized, chemo therapy or any other extensive illness she has been the one to take them to the doctor, therapy, clean up during the sickness of chemo, any tests or xrays, cooked, cleaned and any other way that she can be of service to her family she has been the rock. Please pray for her and the family as she is going through this. And pray for the rest of the family to pick up where she is having to leave off when it comes to being the care giver.

If they have to remove part of her lung she will be in the hospital 4 to 7 days & can take up to 2 months for recovery.

Thank you!

Gina Hatchett

Has your Anamis come to you?

Has your Anamis found you and shed the scales from your eyes? As in Saul’s case, God set the change from Saul to Paul in motion, but it was Anamis that was the instrument God used to open Saul’s eyes. God blinded Saul so that Paul could see. God prepared a place for Saul so that Paul could pray for three days. God used Saul the persecutor of Christians so that Paul could be the persuader for Christ. Be careful that you know who your Anamis really is. Don’t let some one remove the scales just to replace them with blinders.

Bible verse

1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

Pike County School Prayer Walk

The 2009 Pike County School Prayer Walk was awesome, the best ever. With an estimated 100 people taking part in the event, we blanketed the whole school system in prayer. God started a day with a blessing by holding back the rain and giving us a sunny time. At 7 pm on Friday there was a 50% chance of rain by 7 am Saturday morning, and increasing throughout the day, but by 9 am when the Prayer Walk started there was 0% chance, God keeps His promises and kept us dry.
Many things were happening Saturday morning. We received many personal prayer requests, several people committed themselves to becoming Prayer Warriors for our intercessory prayer chain, and prayer and worship was abundant. The last participants left the campus shortly before 11 am, but hopefully the prayers will continue the whole school year.
We had students, parents, grandparents, and others who knew the importance of prayer. I personally had the opportunity to pray with my granddaughter and her parents, she will be starting in the first grade this year. This is the second time my granddaughter and I have prayed together at the Prayer Walk; I hope it becomes a family tradition.
Thanks to everyone that helped with the Prayer Walk and to all that participated.

Subject: urgent prayer needed
Please pray for our family today. We took Chance to the er last night with fever of 103.5. He was dehydrated and possibly has a bad viral infection. That was scary being in a new place and finding the hospital which we knew nothing about. They treated us very well. Now, about 2 p.m. this afternoon Leala began vomiting and still is. She is unable to keep water down. I (Dawn) really need your prayers because I am emotionally drained and exhausted from this sickness in such close quarters in the rv and being so far from home and family. My job interview is tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. and I am really stressed about all of these decisions.

II Chronicles 7:14

… if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land

I challenge everyone to heed the guidance of this scripture and to pray every day for our country. It does not matter who has brought us here or why we have reached this point in the state of our country, we are here and it will only get worse if we continue in our complacency.
In many ways the world has looked to the USA for leadership over the last two hundred years, but lately we have become not a country to emulate but one to condemn, to disrespect, and to denigrate. The most detrimental words and actions do not always come from others, but from within our own citizenry.
As citizens of this country and children of God it is time we lift our voices up in prayer to God; repent, ask forgiveness, and ask for restoration of our moral and ethical values. We need to include our leaders in our prayers, we need to let them know we are praying for them, even though they may not pray for themselves. We need to let our voices heard at all levels of government. We need to express our wishes not only at the voting box, but directly to those setting the direction of our cities, counties, states, our country, and the world.
Take to heart II Chronicles 7:14 and we will see a rectifying wave wash across our country.

EASTER; More than pretty eggs

Easter in many ways has fallen victim to the same fate as Christmas. We tend to see Easter as a holiday, a day to hide eggs and watch the kids search for them, a justification to buy new clothes and dress up to display our worldly finery. Have we lost the meaning of Easter?

Easter season is the most important time in the Christian’s year. Jesus Christ was crucified, buried, and resurrected. Jesus Christ presented Himself to hundreds before His ascension to heaven, confirming the fulfillment of prophecy. If not for Jesus Christ’s fulfillment of the prophecies, Christianity would be just another religion worshipping a dead god, but because Christ did fulfill the prophecies, we can have a personal relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Easter is the time for Christians to reaffirm their faith, to acknowledge the sacrifice God made for His people, recognize the atonement Christ made for us with His blood, and to resurrect and affirm our own faith in God’s word. Jesus Christ’s ministry on the earth was short, but it was filled with faith, words, and deeds, so let our lives replicate that of Jesus Christ.

Easter is not just one of the two times a year we need to attend church, rather Easter is the reason for attending church all year, for trying our best to fulfill the Great Commission, for developing a personal relationship with God, and for us to assure we are washed in the blood of Jesus Christ and that we are following His path to finish His mission.

It is our prayer that you and your family have a wonderful Easter season, and that you carry its truth and meaning in your heart all year.

VALENTINE’S DAY PRAYER

Our father in heaven we thank you for your love and grace. On this day that we celebrate love and relationships between man and woman, we pray that you bring about love, trust, and faithfulness in all people in all relationships.

As you have set the most important commandment for us is to love God and to love others as ourselves, give us a revival throughout the world of brotherly love and love for you. On this day dedicated to love, embolden us to reach out to those around us to proclaim and demonstrate your love in deeds, but also to lift up all those in the world who have not yet come to know you and your love that they will soften their hearts and open their minds to you.

We pray for the sanctity of life and for the countless babies that have been sent to you prematurely. We pray that the world will realize your will for the protection of life. We pray for the family unit as you established it, one man and one woman, united as one flesh.

Unconditional love is the greatest gift that can be given or received, and on this day for expressing our love, we pray we will pour out love in both prayer and works for your glory.

In the name of our savior, Jesus Christ,
AMEN

PRAY FOR A CURE FOR CANCER

Almost everyday we receive prayer requests for people with cancer. This dreaded disease has reached epidemic scale through out the world. Granted, in many ways we have brought this situation on ourselves by what we do, what we eat, and our lifestyles, but if we do not get a handle on the cure and prevention we can only look forward to even great numbers of people suffering with this affliction.
We ask that you add the prayer for a cure for cancer to your daily prayers. We know that if we ask, God will hear and respond. God may answer with a medicine, or maybe by leading us away from the causes of the disease, in any case we must pray mankind out of this scourge called cancer.
